Bad Mergentheim, Germany
Bad Mergentheim is one of the oldest towns in Germany. It was mentioned in chronicles since 1058. The town and the surronding area belonged to the Teutonic order since 13th century. Originally the town was called “Mergentheim”, but in 1970s few neighborhood villages were incorporated into “Bad Mergentheim”. The word “Bad” is usually used as a prefix to show to visitors that it is a spa town. By the way, Bad is an official prefix that requires a government permission.Authorities regularly review all the Bad towns and may suspend the ones that don’t comply with requirements and standards.
